Arthritis - Can massage help?

Arthritis – Can massage help me?
Arthritis is the common term used for several different, chronic degenerative joint conditions. Due to its commonality, a large percentage of the population will experience this at some point during their lifetime. Sadly, even if medically diagnosed, there is not the resources to provide the physiotherapy and massage therapies required so, alternatively, medication is prescribed, which over long periods of time can cause undesirable side effects.
Do I have to put up with discomfort from this condition?
Simply put NO! There are many forms of massage that can help with aiding mobility and function within the joint with the aim of either increasing mobility or maintaining the current level. Massage encourages circulation and therefore blood flow to the area warming the fluids within the joint capsule aiding the movement of the joint. Tension in the muscles can have a ‘pulling’ effect on the joint and add resistance to movement. Through massage this can help to ‘stretch out’ the muscle and regain greater movement relieving pain and discomfort.
