Sports Therapy Association

Sports Therapy Association (STA)
What does it mean to be part of an association?
To be part of an association you firstly have to have qualifications that are recognised by that association.
Having trained with Envisage, which is part of the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, my qualifications are officially recognised by all the associations available for me to join. As many of our Olympic athletes trained there, I thought it was definitely THE place to earn my qualifications!
The second part of the qualifying criteria is that all members must attend courses, talks and informative evenings, for the STA they require 24 hours per year. This is called Continued Personal Development (CPD)and means that I am required to keep up to date with new techniques and medical procedures which are pertinent to the treatments I offer. I must have ongoing CPD in order to retain my membership status with the STA.
I always recommend looking for masseurs who are part of an association as this assures you the correct standard of medical procedure and techniques and also gives you the confidence that the treatments you receive are consistent and follow procedures.
